York visit

On Tuesday 15th Feb 2011 Class 3 visited the Jorvik Museum in York and Dig.

Class 4  went along to York and visited the Castle Museum.

All children thoroughly enjoyed the visit and found it added an extra dimension to the topic work they had done in class.

BUCKETS OF LOVE - Blythswood Care Project

Many thanks to our children and their generous families for supporting the school in donating items to fill the 10 buckets of love.  The buckets will be sent to areas around the world where people are living in poverty.  Thank you to Co-operative Funeralcare, Barnsley for kindly sponsoring the transport costs for this project.

RED NOSE DAY - 18th March 2011

A non-uniform day when the children wore something red and paid £1.00 donation to Comic Relief.  The sale of all 60 noses added to our fundraising, making a total of £140.00.  Thank you to everyone who took part.

PANCAKE DAY RACES

We held our annual Pancake Day Races on Tuesday 8th March, when all the children had the opportunity to take part

(staff and parents too!!)

Thanks to FOHS for their support at this event

and a Special Thank You to Mrs Brown who worked tirelessly all day cooking pancakes for everyone.

She raised £20 in sales of pancakes at 20p each and she has asked for this to be donated to The Barnsley Hospice.

On Thursday 22nd July 2010 the whole school went on a trip to lego discovery centre in Manchester. Staff and children had a great time!!

The girls team won the tournament held at Springvale School in October, winning all 5 of their games.

The boys were runners-up in the tournament.  Well done to both teams.
