Friends of Hoylandswaine School (FOHS)
This is our active and enthusiastic PTA which meets throughout the school year and organizes social events for parents and children, raising money for extra equipment in school or little luxuries such as leaving presents for Y6 or a visit from Father Christmas in December.
All parents automatically become members when their child starts school.
The group meets every first Wednesday of the month at 8 pm at the Rose and Crown Pub in Hoylandswaine. Don't worry if you can't make it to the meetings, you can pass on suggestions and ideas to any FOHS member, you can find a list of representatives for your child's class further down this page.
We also welcome everybody who could spare a little time to help at events, such as setting up stalls or baking or selling buns, etc.
Fundraising events have included the Pancake races with bun and toy sale in February, the Pig Race night in March 2009 (we raised around £ 1000.00)
Other events included parents' night out and the exhibition of the children's mother's day canvasses at the Cooper Gallery in Barnsley.
We helped the children practise May Pole dancing in preparation for the May Day celebrations in the village in 2010.
A recent activity in school was arranged and supported by some of the parents who came in to help the children make Father's Day gifts.
