NEXT MEETING WEDNESDSAY 7 MARCH 8PM ROSE AND CROWN
Please come along!
Friends of Hoylandswaine School (FOHS)
This is our active and enthusiastic PTA which meets throughout the school year and organizes social events for parents and children, raising money for extra equipment and activities in school or little luxuries such as leaving presents for Y6.All parents automatically become members when their child starts school and are very welcome at the monthly meetings, currently held on the first Wednesday in the month at the Rose and Crown, 8pm.
Dates for meetings this year are: 7 March, 28 March, 2 May, 30 May and 27 June
Please see below for contact details for committee members and Class Reps White Heart night out
Thanks to all the ladies who came out on Friday 10th February. Special thanks to Caroline G for organising the food and Louise for sorting the taxis. Next mums' night out pencilled in for 27 April, keep an eye on the newsletter for further details.
Christmas
Thanks to everyone who helped to make our Christmas activities such a success - we had a very busy last week of term, serving refreshments at all four Nativity performances and holding two Christmas discos - not to mention organsing the hamper raffle. Thanks to all those who donated raffle prizes and particularly to Mrs Reynolds for making up the hampers. Money from the raffle will go to the purchase of the new PA system (which was much in use at both the Nativities and the discos!).
Family Quiz Night
Thanks to everyone who came along to the family quiz on Friday 11 November. This was a really successful event which was enjoyed by all. Special thanks to Rianna Armitage for organising the questions and the prizes, Kirsty Ibbotson for the A-Z quiz and John Round at the Sports and Social club for all his help.
HALLOWEEN DISCO
Thanks to everyone who came to the disco just before Half Term and to everyone who worked so hard to make it such a success - more than 60 children came to enjoy some spooky fun and games. Thanks very much to Mr Cutts, our excellent resident DJ.Have a look at some of the photos, below
Other recent events include the hugely successful barn dance held at the Spenceley's farm back in July. This event raised more than £3,000 and had great support from the local community. The funds raised helped pay for the fabulous upgrade to the log area - check it out if you haven't already seen it.
We also held a Robin Hood afternoon at the end of the summer term - this was led by professional actors who showed us all how to be a superb Robin Hood or Maid Marion. Another great event, despite the rain!
And of course earlier in the year FOHS helped organise the Royal Wedding tea party

CONTACT DETAILS/HOW TO GET INVOLVED
The school really benefits from having a wide variety of people involved with FOHS who between them have a vast resource of knowledge and skills and who are able to put forward new ideas. It's wonderful to see that so many of the new Reception parents have already got involved. New members are always welcome. Being part of FOHS gives parents a chance to socialise whilst having the opportunity to support the school and their child's educational experiences.
We appreciate that not everyone will be able to make any or all of the meetings - often we need extra volunteers for certain events like the discos, or for support with other activities such as baking or raffles - so there is the opportunity for everyone to get as involved as they would like.
Listed below are the details of the committee members and Class reps - please feel free to contact any of these parents if you would have any queries or would like to get involved but can't make the meetings. Meeting minutes are available in the school office if you would like to read them
